duel

Let us duel!

We kicked off our first Battle of the Arts in August 2010 and the now-annual throwdown just keeps getting bigger and better!

Hyde Park says “We have the Best Artists” and we have $400.00 in cash prizes to prove it. We called YOU out! Do you have the nerve to come to the Martini Shell on Truman Highway in Hyde Park on Saturday August 3, 2013?

All artists need to be preregistered by July 27 at the latest to participate. Earlier if you want me to not get agita!

Artists will bring their own art supplies and create their art from 3pm to 6pm, no finished pieces are allowed and we will battle it out on location to see who is the best artist. Any medium and any subject matter was allowed (though it is a family event!).

Cash prizes:

1st place: $250.00
2nd place: $100.00
3rd place: $50.00

The public will vote for the winners (all artists are encouraged to stack the deck in their favor by bringing all their friends and family to vote for them!)

We ask: Are you confident enough to answer the call or are you chicken?

Special thanks to Maggi Brown, Regional Interpretive Coordinator for overseeing all of the DCR help.

Thanks to Susan Palumbo and Sandy Spector for their invaluable help at the Artist registration/Welcome/Information table and for making sure everyone who showed up got a chance to vote for their favorite artist!

And, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Jan Kenney for her tireless effort to find the entertainment, help to organize this event, and the multitude of things she does to keep the MAC going in general. I really don’t know what we would do without her.

I dare you!
