Call for Art for Exhibition
Member Gallery @ The MAC
“BOSTON you’re my home”
(September 7 – October 7, 2010)

This call is for members of the Hyde Park Art Association only. You must be a member in good
standing to participate. Artists who wish to join may download an application at www.hpaa-mac.org
stop by for a form at 26 Central Ave. Monday–Friday 12-4 pm, or call 617-364-2787 for one to be
"BOSTON you’re my home" artwork depicting local scenes from Boston.

Each artist participant may submit up to three (3) works for consideration in any medium.
Number of works accepted will be determined by available spaces at the exhibit venue.

All works must be priced, titled, wired and ready to hang. Artwork must not be smaller than 11x14 inches

An Artist bio must be attached in the back of the work.

There is a $3.00 per piece to defray cost of mounting material; unused funds will be used
Artists will be reimbursed any fee for artwork not hung.

All work must be for sale, 30% of the sale price if sold will go to the Hyde Park Art Association

Theme: Up Close and Personal

“Up Close & Personal”
Juried Show
(September 7 – October 7, 2010)

Menino Arts Center/HPAA is seeking artwork dealing with an intimate look at subject matter, all
mediums. There is a $25.00 fee. Artists may submit up to four images. There is an additional $5.00

IMAGE PRESENTATION: Artwork submitted may be represented by prints up to 8.5" x 11", by digital
images on CD, by 35mm slides, or by email entry.

Prints: Prints of work may be up to 8.5" x 11" and may be digital (ink jet, laser etc.) or photographic
prints. Artist name, title, size, media and price should be on the front or back of the print. If you want
your prints returned, be sure to follow the return of materials guidelines below.

Digital files: Digital image files may be submitted on CD, DVD. Images should be readable on PC
platform and should be in TIF or JPG format. No files larger than 15MB please. Reference prints must
be included. Reference prints may be any size individual prints up to 8.5" x 11" (label as for prints
above) or may be a single sheet with multiple prints representing the images on the disc. If submitting
a single sheet, next to each image write the artist, title, media and dimensions. If you submit digital
files without reference prints, your files may not be properly viewed.

Internet/email entry: Since the quality of internet images is not as good, entry via the internet is only
recommended if mailing is difficult Digital files via internet should be in JPG format, 72dpi and no
larger than 12" in any dimension. Save in Photo Shop as Image Option level 5 and Format Option
baseline optimized. Images may be posted to a web page and you may submit the URL (web
address) of the page. Send the entry form image list information in the email when you send the
Slides: Slides should be 35mm. On each slide write the image list number and artists name, title of
work, media and dimensions. Indicate top of work. Do not send glass slides, glass slides are almost
A self-addressed-stamped-envelope (SASE) must be included with sufficient postage for the return of
submission materials. Materials submitted without SASE and return postage will be discarded.
Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than August 13, 2010.

Notification will be made via email and/or by mail with the return of materials in the SASE provided
by the artist by the week of August 23 . Artists who do not include the SASE because they do not
want their slide or print materials returned must provide a self addressed stamped #10 (letter size)
envelope if they wish to be notified by mail. All artists who provide a working email address will be
notified via email, if no email or return envelope is provided, artists will only be notified if accepted
to exhibit. Type or print your email address clearly, if a mistake is made reading it you will not be
There is a $25.00 entry fee for 1-4 slides, prints or digital files. If you wish to include more than 4,
please include $5.00 for each additional. Details of artwork count as additional. Artists accepted to
exhibit will not be charged additional hanging fees.

Please make check or money order payable to HPAA. Artists who wish to pay by credit card may use
PayPal at www.hpaa-mac.org. Print the PayPal receipt and include with your entry.

All works in the show must be for sale. The gallery will take a 30% commission on all sales. Sale

As we enter into a new year and decade let us celebrate and embrace life through art.
This show is to represent your interpretations of what life means to you.
This is a suggested theme but all artwork is welcomed.
