Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my paintings. They represent some interpretations of my journey, both literal and spiritual, to Antarctica. I was able to go “South” in 1997 for a short period of time. Before I left and for many years after, I dreamt about painting watercolors of icebergs and the Antarctic landscape. I was able to bring my watercolors with me and completed a few small works while I was there, but time was short and I had to get back to my real job and real life. Luckily, I took many photos and, in the back of my head, knew that someday I would get back to them.

After the birth of my son, I became a “stay-at-home mom” and I began to think about painting the ice again. Through classes and work during naps and at night, I have managed to create a group of pieces, the beginnings of a “Project Antarctica”. Through them, I hope to begin to capture some of the beauty and excitement that I experienced while there. I have already exhibited several paintings in Boston, Hyde Park, Roslindale, Concord and Brookline.

Most of the paintings are from my own photos. All of these images represent the most exciting landscapes I’ve ever seen. Antarctica was really (for me), the most beautiful place in the world.
